About Kristin

Kristin facilitates a discussion of philosophical perspectives in an interdisciplinary talkback following a theater production at Graceland University.

Kristin Seemuth Whaley, PhD, is an instructional designer and learning facilitator with more than ten years of experience. Her resume includes

  • >500 pages of content created for general and expert audiences

Her work comprises instructional design projects involving the design, development, and implementation of custom learning solutions. In addition to partnering with clients outside of higher education, she also teaches courses in philosophy and religion for undergraduate and graduate students. In the interest of making philosophy available to everyone, she serves as an editor and contributor for 1000-Word Philosophy, an online publication aimed at introducing philosophical concepts to general audiences.

Throughout her career, Kristin has contributed to professional development initiatives aimed at effective learning facilitation. She has created and facilitated several workshops on best practices in teaching and learning, including effective use of instructional technologies and tools.

In 2018, Kristin was awarded a Grant for Innovations in Teaching by the American Association of Philosophy Teachers in support of a project researching alternative assessments of learning. She won an award for excellence in teaching in 2016 and was formally recognized for “outstanding teaching” on several other occasions.
